Anyone Id of this spider? Was sold to me as L. variolus. But I don't think that is a variolus.

at smalltime: you think variolus but what about his dorsal? No markings there.
At swatc1h: do you have pictures of your hesperus?

I myself take care of a bunch of Latrodectus (originally from vardoulas), of which I thought it was variolus....I would say exactly like yours. But I was unaware of this species having red spots on the dorsal abbomen and white stripes on the side...
All I can say now is that markings aren't everything.... and the American Latrodectus species are probably very messed up anyway.

True on all counts.

If this spider comes from a reliable and knowledgable source, you may have to simply take their word for it.

I also bought them from vardoulas.
A reliable and knowledgable source? I bought mactans slings from Vinmann that turned out to be geometricus.
What about this? http://www.uvm.edu/~rtbell/Widow.html
According to the dorsal markings hesperus but if you look too the ventral markings variolus?

the parents were sold to me as variolus and definately I don't consider myself a knowledgable source about latrodectus.
BtW they look similar to all variolus i've seen on the net.
