Hello. Found this on the dirt floor of my thatch-roofed hut next to the ruins of Chichen Itza in central Yucatan, Mexico this morning. It's the discarded exoskeleton of a tailless whip scorpion in the Amblypygi but that's as far as I can go. Any ideas?

I also have an unknown whip scorpion from Chiapas, southernmost Mexico, shown at http://www.backyardnature.net/chiapas/whipscrp.htm in case you'd like to try that one.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Jim

Actually that's the exuvium of a true scorpion. You'll have more luck in that forum.

Hi, what you have found is not a tailless whipscorpion of the order Amblypygi, but rather a half eaten shell of an actual scorpion. The scorpion looks like it belongs to the Centruroides genus.

Of course you're right. Thanks to both of you for putting me straight.
