I got these guys as collard lizards for $11.50 each. But a google search comes up with totally different lizards.

Here's the Q. Is this part of the lizard or black marker? Only the one has it, so was thinking marker, or they are a M/F pair.

sorry, no luck on that. looks like a spiny lizard of some kind but definitely not a collared.

as for the coloration- it's probably not a marker. i wouldn't be surprised if it was sexual dimorphism.

Looks to be a Sceloporus sp. The genus typically has color differences between the males and females. This is the group that is typically called blue-bellies in the western US. The males typically have more color both dorsally and ventrally so I'd assume the lizard with the dark underside is the boy and the one with the lighter underside is either a female (if adult), or an immature. Collard lizards are quite a bit different, so I'd understand why you'd be surprised when you searched for the photos.

lol, yes I typed in collard lizard and got these big really pretty green and blueish spotted guys that are like 10 times their size. They are the same size now, but one is missing part of the tail. So maybe babies will be in my future.
