Wyoming, way up in the Tetons. Sis found a spider sitting on a rock at around 10,000 feet - above the snow line. From her description it fit something in the Sicarius genus along the lines of a Recluse. Hairless, darkish abdomen, violin on cephalothorax. It was barely able to move. She got it to sit on the back of her hand then contentedly parked there for a two hour hike down the mountain. Apparently it revived a bit and it scampered off down around 7,000 feet, probably warmed up a bit.
So, what spiders that fit the description are in that area?

Reclusa can for sure survive ridiculous temperatures, very high and very low. They don not open up shop very well when they are transported to unfavorable areas though. The likelihood is she probably saved a wolf spider boy's life. Or she carried a Hobo Spider on the back of her hand for a 3 thousand foot descent...

She knows her critters generally. She knows lycos. Have Hobos moved all the way to Wyoming - Montana area? Anyway, she checked some images. It had no markings except the violin shape. "Dull tan brown"

It's traditional. wówahokuŋkhiyA . Hél ogná phimíčʼiye na ogná uŋ-wáčhaŋmi. Culturally proper behavior and ethics. I conduct myself accordingly.
