I've always been a lover of big dogs. While I will make nice with smaller yappy dogs, big dogs are what I want once I get my own place after college.
I've been looking at local breeder's sites, and local dog rescue groups, trying to get a feel for where I should get my dog when I can.
In truth, I have been visiting less and less rescue group's websites. Not because I don't want to put in the work that a rescue would require, but because I get sad while reading the stories of some of these dogs, and I can't take it.
I have been looking at boxers specifically, and found the following rescue groups:
http://adopt-a-boxer.adoptapet.com/
http://www.boxerrescueontario.com/benefactors.cfm
There are several dog rescue organisations all over the country, and a few international ones as well.
If you're going to get yourself a dog, look to your local rescue group first, and see if you can be matched to a dog from them
