I am making a tank for our 2 fire bellied toads
and I need some ideas on how to set it up.
I have a tank with a screen top.
It's 12inches long by 12 tall and 6 inches front to back.
They are in a critter keeper right now, but it is too small
for them.

Is this a good size or should I get something else?

All ideas welcome

So lets hear it gang
:D

I would lean toward a ten gallon tank, with about two thirds of the space being water and a third land. You could do this either by installing a divider or just raising the level of gravel on one end. I would go with the divider, since it gives you the ability to control the moisture level in the substrate and to more easily filter and clean the water area. Bombina appreciate floating plants (they haven't told me this, but they seem to utilize them for cover) like lilies and duckweed, and they make the aquarium look nice, too. I hate walking into petshops and seeing them in dry cages with water dishes. They're almost always crammed into the dish. You'd think the shop people would get a clue.

I was thinking 10 gallon to.
We have so much pet related junk, I'm sure there
is a larger tank out in the garage.

I just have to go and get some type of filter and maybe
a few live plants.

Thanks for the reply

I went out today to get a few things for the frog tank.
Of course, because I WANTED them, I could not get any live plants! Have to check another store for those later.
I also need more gravel, I thought I had enough.
You can see (in the picture) that the tank needs more.
I also need to find a few things like; suction cups, to hold down the air lines, a nice background, etc..
But its on its way finally!

I thought the little floating island was cute=D

Cool, that looks good. I've always loved aquatic frogs, especially pipids. A lot of petshops have duckweed growing in their tanks and they're usually eager to give some away for nothing, since it reproduces very quickly and is often considered a pest. I think it looks beautiful, and if the population gets out of hand you just have to scoop some out.
