Ok, i've have spent quite some time deciding on my T purchase, and i hav eit narrowed down to 2, A. Versicolor and A. Metallica. Now i want some advice from some experienced T keepers who have kept both, or know the pros and cons of them. Thanx in advance! =)

Hi, I don't have the metallica but I do have the Versicolor and they are truely gorgeous. I would say like all avics they are quite fast and flighty though. But if you want to get a serious collection going you got to have a versicolor. Hope that helps

She's right You have to get a versi. They are the coolest Avic IMO. I don't think you would go wrong with either but the versi is my favorite.

Ps. Happy Birthday:)

Yeap.. A. versicolor would be my choice between the two. There really isn't any difference between them as far as maintenence goes other than the metallica can (will?) grow a bit larger than the versicolor. None of the Avics are prone to aggression but are quite flighty. Do keep in mind it does depend greatly on the individual spider.

EDIT: ...course... if your like the rest of us... ya just buy em both... ;) lol

You could always go for the the Avicularia urticans. In my opinion, it looks like a cross between an Avicularia metallica and an Avicularia versicolor. I just ordered one today.

Here are some links to some pictures of the urticans on Rick West's website:

and one more of a s'ling on Swifty's site:

I really love the body structure of the versicolor and the red abdomen. However, I still have problems with the color red and green together. I think the urticans body structure is almost as stout as the versicolors, however instead of green, you get purplish blue and you still get the red abdomen.

ok, thatnks for the info guys. I think Metallica and versicolor are the best looking, at least as slings. i dont much like the funny white fuzzy look they get as adults. I think my next purchase will be a nice Cobalt Blue.
