Definitely not an expert, but looks like an orb weaver. All spiders are venomous, few are medically significant.

if you found it near your house, then replicate the conditions outdoors and it should be fine.

Not sure if we have many specialists on Indonesian species here, but I found this:
https://sites.google.com/site/venomousdangerous/spiders/asia-s-most-venomous-spiders
Not sure if it's exhaustive, but the only medically significant species listed there is a tarantula, so definitely not whatever you have that pic of above.

It's therefore likely safe for YOU to keep, but without more info about the spider and its needs, it might not be safe for the spider. You can't possibly provide for its needs if you don't know what they are. Maybe someone here will be able to ID it for you, but I wouldn't wait too long; if you don't get an ID in the next day or so please release it.

Just can't think of that name right now. It's an orb weaver and a close relative of one found in the Phillipines. It's not a Nephila - too circular and hairy, but shares the same habitat and makes similar webs.

I think it's in the Eriovixia genus. Common throughout S.E. Asia on south to Aus, over to Africa and into the Pacific regions.

BTW, there are no orb weavers with a medically significant bite. There was a man in Surabaya that got munched on the ear by a Neph which turned into a weeping spreading wound initially attributed to the bite. After the morons nearly placed his life in jeopardy from the misdiagnosis Clostridium was cultured. Spider bites may not be sterile.
