I have a coastal carpet python and was wondering if any body knows if they are active?I have had mine for about a month now and all she seems to do is sit in her tree (as if she was a GTP)At first i thought it was to be close to the heat lamp but now i have moved her in to a much warmer room and still find that all she does is sit near the light. Is this normal for a carpet python?

What are the temps for the warm spot and the cool side of the cage? I have several jungles and a pair of coastals one is a jag. All of them are pretty lazy in the day but really active at night. I use a infrared thermometer gun to check the temps. I keep mine at 87-88 and around 75 on the cool side.

Yeah, thats quite a bit too cool, unless you are cooling the snake down fro breeding.

The ideal temp range for most Carpets is 75-88.

Your temps are too cold hence the snake is inactive & sitting close to the heat source. Bump up the wattage of the bulb you are using & the the snake should start eating & moving around more.

I've never heard of a Carpet Python with an RI, they seem pretty insusceptible to them, but you would likely run into digestion problems if prolonged exposure to cold temps continues.
