I was sure i already posted photo's of these, anyway here's photo's of the development of some larvae i got at 1st instar, currently have 4 pupae and 3 large larvae :)

Fantastic macro & neat 'pillars! I wasn't able to see the specs on your pictures- what gear are you using?

Just my Olympus IR-500 digital camera :)
It has a super macro setting on it which lets you get up close to insects :)

Did you know that your caterpillars are beginning to spin usable silk?

It is actually usable at least twice over:although intact domestic cocoons were traditionally be preferred for creating pricey custom clothing the "used" cocoons that domestic silkmoths came out of were sometimes transformed into the beautiful "shantung" that lucky girls wore long ago.

- I do believe that the handicrafting techniques that I employed upon domestic cocoons all those years ago would work anew if I had some of your "used" cocoons here.
