Delena canceridies was the one used for the drones in arachnophobia. It's the only social huntsmen spider and the only social spider that dosen't build webs. Colonies in the wild generally consist of a female with young, but can range up to several hundred across many different ages/instars; limited by the retreats that they inhabit, (dead trees with the bark just peeling off a little). Unfortunately, your going to have an impossible time finding any in the pet trade. Oh yeah, the bite of the Delana's is not bad and they are more flighty than bitey. I don't believe any huntsmen have really terrible bites, and most do tend to run....fast.

MMMM, well, I know one of the sellers that's on this board has Olios sp. from AZ. I belive they have captive hatched slings. I don't know if I'm allowed to say who but you can PM or email me. That's a pretty cool large fast species. Also, another seller has giant flordia huntsmen spiders, once again, PM or email me for details. The australian huntsmen spiders are absolutely incredible pets, if you can ever find Holoconia flindersii I would highly reccomend it. Basically a "pokie esque" like black and white colored, really large, really fast, great eater, all around amazing spiers. But just like the delenas, I don't belive you're going to find them in the pet trade.
