How to know the Spiders - Kaston, B.J.

    This book was probably really good when it was written (1906!), but nowadays it's chock full of inaccuracy (for example, the 5 genera and 30 species of theraphosids :))

    Still, for basic taxonomy knowledge and distinguishing familes (to some extent) it's pretty decent. Lots of good illustrations, and worth checking out of the library for a light read - not a buy unless you fancy old books and find an original.

    lol. Yeah the writer was born 1906. The first print was 1972 and last in 1978. You can tell by the title that it's old. Good book though.

    And by "inaccuracies", I assume that you mean taxonomy that has changed (I don't think the spiders have changed that much in the last 40 years); Kaston, based on what little I've read, was known for being a stickler for details and accuracy.
