Slings will most definitely scavenge, mealworms being my choice. Alternatively if you have pinhead crickets/raoches depending on all parties sizes slings will hunt as well.

Also just to add it in here, its best not to feed on any set schedule IME, knocks fasting times down considerably.

My "schedule" is basically a per-spider reminder to make sure I didn't forget anyone, especially as they get a little chonk or with the ones who make eyes/toes at me every day like they've never eaten before in their lives. 🤣 I usually end up feeding them before the reminder kicks in. (Except maybe the pulchra whose abdomen currently most closely resembles Jupiter...)

Agreed, Using them as reminders certainly helps as long as sometimes it gets adjusted to suit the individual spider! and yeah Grammostola pulchra are little piggies haha

This little piggy was "due" for feeding yesterday but I just couldn't bring myself to chase it off the lid 🤣

I have a .5” P. sp. Sabah blue sling that is terrified of even new born dubia I’ve crushed the heads of. After 2 weeks of no success on feeding like that, I outright killed a pinhead and tore it in half. Next morning it was being eaten. Pre killed comes in various forms and you just have to experiment with your method. It’s also dependent on the T in question. My other 2 Sabah blue sling take live pinheads and baby dubia with no problem.

Not necessarily for their nutritional value but feeding house flies or moths (feeders, never use wild caught)) to arboreal species can be fun. My Avicularia/Caribena species went nuts for them and so did my Psalmopoeus spp.
