........can I expect my mature Chaco male to live? Can anyone give me an estimate?

Chaco (his name - I know - not very original *G*) molted into maturity on 2-14-2005......almost 2 years ago. (in 10 days)

He still is eating very well. I do not feed him heavily because I don't want him to get too fat & then attempt a post-ultimate molt like my rosie did & then the rosie died in its molt.

Chaco is moving well & looks very nourished & I alternate between crickets & superworms & he still aggressively goes after the food when I feed him.:D

Was just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up as to how long he could still be with me. :)

Thanks,
Beth

It sounds like he's pushing the evelope now but based on how he's acting, he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Very resilient.

He sounds like he's doing very well. Just keep up what you're doing.

Thank you for your replies. I am quite amazed myself that this big boy is still doing so well. He is my longest lived male so far. I am just praying that he does not attempt a molt. That is the one thing that worries me most.

Wow two years..... nice thats pretty good. Even if he died tomorrow I would say he lived out a happy life. Did he get a chance to mate?

He did have one mating but my female then molted. :( So no little ones from him & now, I am not in a position to handle hundreds of little tykes. He does seem to be quite content (I guess) because after that mating attempt he settled down & stopped the constant pacing. He has been (still is) a joy to have since I got him as a 2"er on 10-22-2002 from Phil Redwine.

Chaco was my first "mail order T" ..........I have had (off & on) tarantulas for over 25 years & always got them in person from breeders & stores. So he is a bit special......first mail order bride.{D
