I understand it takes a few years at least, till lost legs grow back to normal size, but how many molts till they at least start growing back? Im asking because my H. lividum was not treated well in the pet store, and the employees liked to poke it around to make it jump, and it jumped on someones face, and was flung off really quick. It is now missing leg 1 and 3 on the left side. It uses its left pedipalp to substitute for leg 1, its rather sad. Id like to know how long before she can walk normal again. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

When a tarantula loses a leg or multiple legs, they regenerate them when they moult. After the first moult, the new leg or legs will appear, but much thinner and weaker and it will take at least another moult for the spider to fully regenerate them.

Most will get by just fine with missing legs, so don't worry.

It all depends on when the leg is lost during the molt cycle. I'm guessing the more time the leg has a chance to regenerate before a molt, the larger and more developed it will be after the molt, and the less molts it will take to reach full size again.

Thanks guys, I do feel better now. I just feel bad every time I see her walk cause she is really wobbly. It almost looks like an elderly person walking with out there cane. Luckily she spends most of her time just sitting there in her burrow.

This, I have had a young brachy sling loose a leg and it is 3 molts out now and I can still tell a difference. On the other hand, I had an Aphonopelma loose a leg and I couldn't tell which one was lost by the next molt.

:( basically what hobo said. Just make sure she has plenty of water and maim her food for her so she doesnt have to struggle too much. Oh and might want to feed her a little bit more till she molts, she'll use up alot of her fatness to regen her legs

Well she has plenty of water, and I keep her enclosure fairly moist, but has not eaten at all since I got her, which was almost exactly like 3 weeks ago. And I know she could of caught the cricket if she wanted to, it was annoying her and she had it pinned down for a little while, and flicked it away. I suppose she might be in pre molt, Ive never had an H. lividum before though, so I don't really know there eating habits.
