How aggresive are P. Irminias

Just wondering how aggresive the P. Irminia is overall. I LOVE the looks of these Ts, but not sure if I'm ready for something like that just yet. My little witch of a Boehmei makes me jump now and then. I'm not looking for something to handle, but I want to be ok with transfering and/or cleaning enclosures as needed.

If you feel you're not ready for a P. irminia, maybe you should start off with an easier arboreal, like some kind of Avicularia? Since you only have a brachypelma you might find the arboreal's movements a lot different than a terrestrial's. I find my P. irminia intimidating when I'm transferring her, but in her cage, she's alright. I even tong feed her superworms sometimes. I definitely respect her and treat her cautiously, though. But if you want one, I would say get one at some point when you're ready. They are beautiful in person and pretty much every time I see mine I say "aww".

Thanks guys! I already have an A. Avic adult F and 6 versi slings. I'll probably wait. I just can't get over the beautiful markings on the Irminia. Awsome looking T.

I agree with mcluskyisms too that they're slightly more defensive than some other T's. They're more defensive than skittish. By this I mean, if they are cornered, their first defense may be to give a threat pose instead of run away.

In my experience with them they aren't that bad. Only had one strike in a year from one of my females and it was because I was trying to transfer her to a bigger home. She just struck at the paint brush when I was trying to prod her out. I would strike at you too if you came in my home and were trying to nudge me out. Cleaning the enclosures is fine they will normally just hide. Be respectful and make sure you know where the spider is at all times. Do not take your attention away for even a second. If they are out just give the container a few taps and they should hide. Transferring is probably the biggest issue. If you use this neat little trick you shouldn't have an issue. I have heard of some having some attitudes but every specimen is different.
You and only you will know when you are ready. It's not a bad idea to get one as a sling and you can grow together(size and experience). ;) - Chad

Some of the most evil P.irminia I've owned were just as bad P.murinus.
