This is so amazing, I just have to share!

Bungee, my new avic. geroldi sling started to eat sometime last night, and is currently on his third dead cricket. He's a very shy eater and only likes to munch dead things when no one is watching.

When I came home today I saw him sitting on the cricket I threw into his Web earlier today. I gave him another couple of hours and he was done with it, and looked to be foraging for more.

So I decided I was going to clean out the old cricket remains and throw in a new squashed head pinhead.

I squish the pinhead's head and drop it into Bungee's web on the other side of the delicup, hoping he will be lured towards it. He kind of moves around and I'm like 'What did he do with the rest of the dead pinhead?'

I have a small plastic jack (you know from the game jacks) in his delicup for him to anchor his web on, because it's plastic with no sharp edges and not likely to topple. Well, calm as can be, Bungee marches over to the shadow of the jack, picks up a mangled and obviously well-devoured husk of what used to be a pinhead, climbs the delicup, heaves the cricket remains over the side, and goes back into the cup to enjoy the next course of his meal.

So much for a slobby geroldi, this little guy has class! Maybe he is actually a female after all. =D

Ya, you'll find that avic's and other arboreals will not leave cricket remains in their web. Nor will they poop in them, they make a point of going outside their webs to relieve themselves.

Now that is odd..... My A. avic juv has yet to build any type of web, and when I looked in on her today I noticed some tarantula poop on the side of the enclosure with her perched right above it.

Maybe mine is not such a great housekeeper?:?

I bet watching the little sling do that was awesome though.:)

It sure was. He's showing so much personality for an invert - I'm utterly enchanted! I can't wait to see what he'll do next. :)

Yes, arboreals do not like to have their webs dirty and they do seem to releive themslves outside their web.
