Where online does everybody buy their Madagascar hissing roaches in the USA for their tarantulas?

I'm going to switch up the diet for some of my Ts.

Does anyone feed hissers to T's? I don't know if they are prolific and/or fast growing enough to make good feeders, at least not on a regular basis. Plus, I would worry that some might actually be able to harm the tarantula. My major male Gromphadorhina oblongonota is well-armored, strong, bad-tempered and knows how to use the spikes on his legs! :hurting:

I got my hissers from BugsInCyberspace and would recommend them. You might also check out the For Sale ads on this forum.

As far as i know, i think some people like to use them for arboreal spiders, since they can climb smooth surfaces and apparently it drives the T nuts,( i believe i saw it in one of Tom Moran's husbandry videos). But that is also why some people avoid them as feeders.

Hissers are rock solid. I'd be worried about injury to the T's fangs on anything besides Theraphosa and big LPs.

Dubia are considerably softer.

I've been feeding out of a colony of oblongata's and haven't had any issues. Hissers look a lot like dubais as nymphs in that they are flatter and thinner than their adult counterparts, and I haven't noticed any of my t's hesitating or having any trouble getting them chomped. From 1/2" vagans and albo's to 2" gbb's to 4" tiger rumps all the way to my big momma t. Stirmi I haven't seen any roaches uneaten. I haven't fed off any of the really large adult males to anyone except big mommas stirmi and LP but I would imagine any of the smaller t's would dispatch them just as quickly. Every time I put in a well armored hisser they get it right behind that armored plate on their head. T's seem to know to go for the neck and have no trouble with armored prey.

I believe I traded some Spiderling's to hisserdude here on the boards but www.roachforum.com is also a good resource. It is pretty much the same thing as AB with the for sale section and reviews. There is also www.roachcrossing.com which can also be a good resource for finding information about different pet Roach species
