Highest brood

Hi,

According to this site the highest brood produced on record is 105 babies in one brood and the specie is Centruroides insulanus.

I have a friend here in my country. His Parabuthus transvaalicus produced 141 babies 12 died only 129 survived. What do we do to properly and scientifically document this? What are the procedures thanks.

100+ in a Centruroides seems kind of big. The only ones I've ever been able to breed have had broods around 20-30 max. Then again I've only got access to the US native species and they are smaller than some of the other species. I know my grosphus grandidier had 40+ babies so maybe larger centuroides could have master broods.


141 babies from Parabuthus could happen. They have huge broods. I've got a P leiosoma that is starting to look like a sausage. She'll either have a nice big brood or molt soon. I'm hoping it's the babies.


Edit: I just finished looking at some other species care info. I guess larger centruoides have some big broods. I've seen everal repoprts of 90+ babies.

A Centruroides I had from Costa Rica had 128, only one I've had so who knows how many more babies some individuals have had. The vote was that it was a C. margaritatus, I kept several and raising those.

No there are so many P.trans here and I have some that I have raised. The one that I mentioned just produced her new broods and what you got from me are already big hehehe!

Well I guess the record of 105 has been broken by more people I think we better do some recording and lets see who has the most broods.

hi sir vixvy. My 8i ptrans produced 124 slings. And the gestation period was only less than 3 months.
Krib (marvin) knows about this.

mine (P trans) recently gave birth to 150 live scorplings.. her first brood was 115 but 2 died..
