Hello OB-1...welcome to the forums :)
I think another newb just asked the same question about SFO shows, hopefully a Cali member might post something about them if they see this.
There is the IRBA show coming up, but I'm thinking it's in central Cal...not sure though!

Welcome, what else have you considered for expansion? Honestly if you feel your ready for it a T. blondi is an absolutely impressive specimen with a command for respect. What other T's do you have?

well, either of those are great. L parahybana...gets enormous, eats like a pig, and stays out in the open.
A avicularia, nice, docile little arboreal, good appetite too.
If you are having no problems caring for the P can. you should easily handle (not literally!) either of the two you mentioned!

If you are interested in getting into arboreals the A. avicularia is great. Our adult female is a a bit scared by us but the slings we have will jump right onto my hand with little coaxing. We have the L parahybana also and they are fun to watch eat. Ours is quite active and digs up a storm. As for dealers you can find very reputable dealers through this website with good prices.

Obi-1 somewhere on the site someone said a show is coming up soon in San Mateo....search the site here for "san mateo" and you should find it...in the most recent thread to mention it they also listed a site that lists shows in the US or something...good luck!

Oh yeah, and great to see a fellow bay area enthusiast...

Hello and welcome to the site.

There is an IRBA show coming to San Mateo the weekend of Sept.13-14, it will be at the San Mateo expo center.

Also Invertepet is located in Novato, CA, Paladin has the web address posted above.

and i thought invertepet was somewhere in the city (or is that another store)

and eper-ani(sp?) there is one store in concord that sells reptiles and um...yuck...i buy crickets from him when my wife isn't up to grabbing them from the East Bay vivarium...otherwise I don't know of any good invert stores around...supposedly a repti store in Antioch that is supposed to be good, but haven't gotten there yet...

thanks allen. btw the antioch store youre referring to is called Petacular. that was where i bought my Haitian Brown. its a really cool store and the workers know their stuff. they recently sold a huge T. blondi for $199. is that a good price for a big female blondi? but anyways i would recommend that store because all the animals look like theyre in good condition and the people are really knowledgeable.
