Probaly not very high. LS50 Isn't a true anwser either, and there is little reason this should be of use. Use the same precautions you would with any scorpion with be the most reasonable idea.

If it makes a difference, no Heterometrus will hurt you unless you are alergic.

Also, H. javanicus is not a valid species name. I think it was synomized with something, but I forget.

most probably H.cyaneus
as they've been often imported from Java

H.cyaneus was previously under the Javanimetrus subgenus

Heterometrus (Javanimetrus) cyaneus
Heterometrus (Gigantimetrus) swammerdami
for comparison :)

Being in family Scorpionidae, the LD50 is probably pretty high. I've heard that emps (Pandinus imperator) are around 1000 mg venom per kg body mass. By comparison, most "hots" are 1 mg or less.

I remember P. imperator being 40 mg, and Hadogenes sp were 3000-4000 or something similar.

Again the LD50's are done on rats, not humans. Some people have been stung by some very "hot" scorpions and only had some pain and suffering.

Read the sting reports of anything in the Heterometrus genus, should give you a better idea of how it'll feel. Unless you're allergic, then it's a different story.

Thanks to all, I read the sting reports and my conclusion is that the Genus Heterometrus is a 2 in a scale or 5 (5 the worst).

I want to know it becouse I saw them by 9 euros (10-11 $).

Thank you!:)

That's a pretty reasonable price for one -- I'd go for it if I were you.

I know;) , but my problem is that I live with children and I only can have less venomous Scorpions (I have P. imperator and H. paucidens), so I have to be a responsability person:) .

Thanks!:)
