Hi all, I bought this little guy a few weeks ago. He's meant to be a heterometrus cyaneus. He seems to be doing very well and eating once a week. He loves climbing up and over the rocks and deco in his tank.
Would any one be able to tell if he is a male or female? He's not an adult yet only about 4 inches.
Pics included of his under belly.
Thanks.

Cool, I've never heard of H. Cyaneus. Congrats on the find, and good to hear he/she's doing well. Unfortunately you may have to take a clearer shot to determine its sex. I'll post a couple of mine, hopefully it'll give you an idea.

First pic is my Heterometrus Spinifer, female.
Second is my Pandinus Cavimanus, male.
Note the oval shape of the genital operculum on the male, female's heart-shaped.

Thank you, from your pics I think mines a male but will try and get a better pic some time.

Hey

That indeed looks like Heterometrus cyaneus, based on the granulation/pattern on the claws
It also looks like an adult from those pics!

As Josh said, more pics!! :)
