Guessed Avicularia avicularia?

You're right.
The latin name Avicularia literally translates to bird eating.

Birdeater Picture

Looks like an Avicularia avicularia. Love those pink toes. My little A. avic is the sweetest little thing. Not a mean bone in her
exoskeleton! Funny--when people call these tarantulas "birdeaters" it makes them sound so mean!! LOL!! I guess they are- to the little birds. ; )

the humble avic can be as beautiful as any other t, just like the rosie.

as far as bird eating goes, i've never heard of it in the wild...but of course, no one knows very much about t's in the wild..
scott has some interesting ideas when it comes to feeding time...
i saw one crazy ass photo on rick west's site. notice they're both L. parahybana! dirty spiders.
mine should be here tomorrow. heh heh heh

Birdeater Avicularia avic

My little A. avic, Pinkie, is beautiful. She has these beautiful blue metallic colors like the one in the picture, and also reddish hair on the sides of her abdomen. she's about ready to molt again, so right now her color is mainly black with a fat abdomen. LOL!! I also have a baby Avic. versicolor, Shanaquah, that will be outstandingly beautiful, especially when she grows older. She's pretty young now. but her abdomen has this beautiful blue and black pattern on it under her setae. I can hardly wait for all of those metallic reds, purples, blues, and pinks to show up!

They are certainly capable of eating a small bird and I'm certain it's happened on occasion. I doubt it's a staple of their diet though.

Birdeater Picture

On National Geographic Explorer, last night they showed an
Avic eating a baby bird. Rick West was on there too, looking for
T. blondi's, and he found a nice gorgeous female, and let her crawl all over him. : ) Cheryl

"Read the hint, folks ;)

Avicularia avicularia and nothing other."

If Avicularia means birdeater, it could be anyone, right?
And I don't know, but unless I brought the sun down on my avic avic it wouldn't look as blue metallic as that :)

"It has pink toes, i think that is a small clue as to what it is."

Yeah, that is why everyone so far bar one guessed avicularia.

"im a beginer and i know what that is...A.avicularia and nothing else.."
Good for you, given that it might as well not be
