Hello, I have two Dynastes tityus larvae that are just swimming in their own frass at this point. I'm out of decayed wood and have been having trouble finding the time to get into some woods to collect more. It occurred to me that the substrate I have in my AGB enclosure should be more than suitable for them. I made it with 50% organic raised bed soil, 25% ground decayed hardwood, and 25% decayed leaves (all sterilized and mixed together of course). Is there any reason why I shouldn't just throw the larvae in with the Millipedes? I am hoping to breed the AGB's if that matters.

What instar are your tityus larvae? Are they getting close to pupating? If so, then they should definitely be kept in isolation from each other and from other bugs, including the millipedes. You don't want them to be disturbed by another bug digging around in the substrate once they've started to form their pupal chambers.

These are my first Dynastes tityus, but I'm pretty sure they're L3 and they could be close to pupating. Okay thanks. I'll have to get some wood this weekend.
