I just picked up these two scorpions and would appreciate as much help with positive ID as possible. they were just ID's as "Desert scorpion" and "Flat rock scorpion" the owner did not know scientific names.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks, what separates the desert from the many yellow desert types and the flat rock being paucidens from troglodytes
I'm just new to scorps. last one I kept was emperor back in the late seventies.

Not sure about the desert one. (Too many for me to keep track of, at least for now) But paucidens has those yellow stripes and troglodytes doesn't. Plus I believe troglodytes gets slightly larger.

I know right, they all kind of look the same. The easiest way is looking at their telson, metasoma, mesosoma and pedipalps.

Round two!! the same CL seller texted me saying the purchaser of his other scorpion was a no show and asked if I still wanted the emperor for $10...well you know how that goes I was doing the happy dance. Although with all the threads I have read with the confusion of true P. imperator vs P. cavimanus I was not jumping to conclusions, but hey any sub/adult scorp for $10 SAUL GOODMAN LOL I'm leaning towards P. cavimanus though
@ shining @ BobBarley all help would be appreciated the scorp is about 5-7" including tail

onto the pics

I've never seen a P. imperator with red pedipalps, a deep brownish red in certain lighting yes, but not red. Quite a few black scorpions can have that blue/green hue under certain lighting too.
