A friend of mine says she was working in a restaurant one night in upstate NY when she saw a spider that was "about 1 1/2 inches long with a tannish body and blood red abdomen." I know it's not much to go on but if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help.
I do suppose it could've possibly been imported on produce since it was a restaurant and all that.

i agree. it has many common names; sow bug eater, woodlouse killer, isopod hunter, etc., but one scientific name: dysdera crocata.

Thanks for the help but I showed her some pictures and she still claims the colors are reversed. Who knows what she saw if she even did see something like that...
