Help with Hissers

I have a small colony of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches with some females that have started to give birth. The females and their babies are now separated from the males. I am looking for someone who would like to take on a few (or all) of the little critters as either feeder stock or pets. I do not want to have to kill them off and would rather see them go to good homes or at least go to good use as feed stock for larger critters. I do enjoy these little guys as pets, but am not equipped to handle and care for so many. Please drop me an email if you are in the New York City area and would be interested in taking these off my hands. If you are not near New York City, but have information as to a place I could take them please contact me as well.

Baby hissers need an escape-proof container whose slightly moistened bedding will cushion them en route,hold some food,and let air in...although large insects need much less air than baby mice of the same size an AIRTIGHT container CAN suffocate a consignment of cockroaches.

Tiny holes will probably be sufficient.
But they do have to be there.

Hissers have limited tolerance for cold.
Don't risk an unheated weekend for these...if that might happen where you live shipment at the beginning of a business week might be advisable.

And select a carrier that is pet friendly...or at least indifferent.

You could always call around and see if any pet stores or local zoos need feeder insects and then donate them. Reptile rescues are always in need of food too.

Does your town host a (monthly) reptile show?
Does a nearby town?
You might decide to attend on a day you can find the time to talk to the exhibitors...somebody WILL know who can use them.

And...How about what YOU can use...?

Many (if not all) monthly reptile shows double as "Swapmeets."

You might get to swap for some neat stuff.
