I’ve had Poppy for a couple months now. She went into her second molt with me over a week ago after a huge meal. A couple days ago (wed/thu) she molted. She came out herself on Friday night. I kept misting everyday as usual. She seemed perfectly normal. When she came out, she was exploring and was very active.

When I opened to mist last night (Saturday night - approximately 2 ish days post molt) she jumped onto my hand and hung out but I was worried she might be too delicate and guided her back into her enclosure. I left her a crushed little mealworm incase she got hungry. Again, she seemed active and even looked like she might be hunting the mealworm because it still moves a little when dead.

I woke up to her dead this morning. I am so absolutely devastated, does anyone know what could’ve happened?

Pictures of her (passed) and her last molt in pictures. The molt was in her sticky web and really hard to get out just now, so it’s in shreds.. please help me understand..

edit: added picture of enclosure. Its messy from me trying to pull her molt out of her web just earlier.. sphagnum moss in the back that I used to retain a little moisture and I used to fine mist in there atleast once if not twice a day and I’ve seen her driving from the water droplets. She was VERY interactive and sweet. 😭

I just added a picture. I don’t think so. She was sold to me from a reputable seller and was told she may be about 6-8months old max.
Dehydration is the biggest issue usually with spiders. Did you see it drink often ? Some spiders can have a bad molt and lose that ability.

Sad News,

Dehydration would be first guess, especially after recent molt.

Thank you for the response, yes, I did see her walk over to wherever I mist every time. She did it last night as well.

They Keep trying to drink, but for some reason later on in the week have died of dehydration. possibly because of a bad molt or evaporation . This is common it seems, happened to me also.
