so, i went to the other LPS today to check out what they have in stock since i have a store credit there, and i was asking about their new Ts and found something marked "euthalas sp. blue" about 1" for $40.

the lady there seemed to be quite knowlegable about other Ts, but kept referring to it as "a different coloured singapore blue" and that it could have different care requirements and something about red marks on its legs if it turned out to be MF (oh, and also that it should currently be $80 for the size that it is right now). so i'm trying to do my homework and i'm finding multiple names for this spider, racing against the clock to figure out if it is something i want in my collection to tell them to put it on hold before they close.

can anyone at least clarify what i should be searching for since everything from "blue femur" to "pichidangui blue beauty" and more is currently on the investigate list right now and i'm not going to buy something i don't know about and end up with some insane devil like an H. mac.

and for the price, should i at least ask to put it on hold?

also, i know this makes it harder because i didn't take a picture. :wall::wall::wall: what i can say is that as of right now its a rather flighty, unremarkable brown sort of coloured T.

The genus is spelled Euathlus, so maybe that's why you're having trouble. In my experience with Euathlus, they're really not nasty at all, they're pretty flighty but definitely manageable. If you search Euathlus sp. blue on google images, there's quite a few pictures. The care is pretty simple as well, pretty dry but with a humid corner, so either an overflowing waterdish or a corner that you mist or pour water on.

Good luck.

i really hope it is what it is labeled, since that seems like something i can manage.

my only reason for inquiry is that this place has a bad habit of combining scientific names and common names, so i'm erring on the side of caution in case it really is a "singapore blue" or something entirely different.

after a quick search on genus euathlus i got to this pic, which is probably the red markings she was describing.

if that is what it turns into, it looks gorgeous and we may have a winner after all

I love Euathlus... I'd buy it given the chance. They're way more beautiful in person than in pics.

Please post pics if you do get this spider... I'd love to see it (Anastasia's pics are the only ones I've seen so far).

i can't say they'll amount to much, seeing as how its still a 1" sling, but i have to admit my curiosity got the best of me and i will more than likely be buying this T. if it ends up being L. violaceopes at least the pricing is fair.

i'll post pics if i do though :D

Euathlus are way more rare here in the states. It's a shame, because they're some of my favorites, but they really don't seem to have caught on.

I actually bought one of these from Dave Grimm for $25 and he told me that it was a sling that came from Ana. It's just a small little thing, maybe half inch or so but if it helps I could take a pic and you could compare it to mine? Just let me know if a pic is wanted. {D

yes please, from my end... I'm looking into buying a couple of these as a result (primarily) of this thread... love to see what a little one looks like.
