Help identify this spider please

Hi everyone, my brother found this 2 inch spider at his house we would love help identify.

Sorry we don't know anything about spiders and Google wasn't much help. Found in Illinois Chicago land area

That looks like the unfocused blurry butt of an Araneus marmoreus

Sorry that's the only pic he took. He was scared to get that close, just how he is

That's fine there's only one brightly colored and spotted orb weaver with banded legs in your area anyway.
