So, I'm looking to replace the heat mat that I had on my dubia colony because it finally broke on me. I'm searching Amazon, and I'm finding that horticulture heat mats are about half the price of heat mats "made for reptiles" and are actually larger. Has anyone used these? They apparently get up to 90F, which is perfect for what I need.

Here is the heat mat in question:

The ones I've used have never gotten hot enough to suit my needs (I think mine got the bin to around 80F max).

I recommend a back heating pad like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-756-...476899483&sr=1-2&keywords=sunbeam+heating+pad

Higher power, cheap, and adjustable. They have other sizes, but make sure to get one without auto shutoff. The ones I recommend have switch style instead of button style controls.
Wow, really? And those are safe to keep on 24/7?

I haven't had any problems yet! They're pretty commonly recommended. Another option would be heat tape if you aren't comfortable with the back heating pads.

Huh, never would have guessed. Well thanks for the recommendation! I'll be getting those then :)
