So I have a couple of slings coming to me and I have kicked around the best option for cages. I finally decided on Kritter Keepers with Panty hose over the lid to keep the slings from getting through it. I will post a pic as soon as I take one. I just wanted to know if anyone else has used panty hose in this way and/or will it cause any problems. pros and cons are kind of what im looking for. I am only 4 days into the hobby and still have very little habitat experience.:?

I'd be afraid the tarsal claws would get hung in the panty hose. How big and what species are the slings? Condiment cups and deli cups work well for terrestrial stepping stone enclosures till they're big enough for KKs.

Brachypelma boehmei (Mexican Fireleg), Avicularia versicolor (Atilles Pinktoe)
Yeah I was worried about the hooks as well and I think that the slings will be
.5" so they are pretty small.

Go to your local mexican resturant or stand and get you some small plastic cups they offer to keep the salsa in with the plastic snap on lids..poke some wholes on the side of the container with a needle and youre good. I have 3 pulchras in them now, they keep the humidity in pretty well for the slings.

Yep, condiment cups. Perfect for the B. boehmei. Might want to look into a taller vial for the A. versicolor. Sometimes the vials they are shipped in will work for a bit.

Oh, congrats on your new additions!

Deli cups are popular. I prefer clear box containers that can be found in any Michaels art store though. They come in all sizes and only cost a maximum of a few dollars. You can use a power drill (do not use a dremmel tool as they just melt plastic back into the holes) to make ventilation holes using a very small drill bit. Make sure to drill side vents as well as on top of the enclosure. You can hinge the lids using clear tape too. I use one strip for a hinge and a small folded over strip on the other side as a latch.

The Michae's boxes are nice. I currently have 2 versicolors in some (they're about .5" currently). The ones I got for them are (I believe) 2.25" square on the bottom and 4" verticle with a lid that's about 1"deep. I have them upside down, with bedding in the lid and a stick going up to the main part for the versi's to climb on so they can make a web at the top. Apparently one of the versi's doesn't realize this is what he's supposed to do, as he's making his web at the bottom of the box

I just let mine decide how they want to live when I give them a new cage. The Michaels boxes are great because they hold up, look good, and dont require disturbing the T much when dropping dinner in or misting.

Deli cups tend to seal way to tight and require that the T be disturbed.
