Now I know I'm gonna hear it so let me say it up front, I already know we can only for sure sex him/her from the molt, BUT we thought we'd throw it out there... in yalls OPINIONS drawn from personal experience or otherwise, care to venture a guess as to the sex of our juvie singapore blue? :D and again, we know anything any one writes isn't a 100%, so go nuts! and the pictures arent going to get any better at the moment, i took these during a cage transfer and right now s/he's huddled in the corner. shes about 3" :

This species is known for some sexual dimorphism. I would say female.

I'd say it looks a little femaley. I don't know much about this sp tho'. If you just rehoused it there'll probably be some wall climbing. Wait for the climbing then snap us a good shot of the bottom of the abdomen. Aim for the book lungs, that's what we need to see to get a good idea.

Sweet lookin little bugger tho'!

Okay, maybe it would be more fair to say:

blue=girl
not-blue=boy

The mossy greeny color for males is the mature coloration, but before that they're still brown - not anything approaching the vibrant blue in the pic at the top of this thread.

As for at what size the blue comes out, that I'm not sure on. Clearly there's blue at 3", as shown above. Our only Singablue is a 1.5" sling who is still decidedly brown, which either means tough luck, or she's just not there yet. My boyfriend swears he sees tiny blue hairs in just the right light, but I'm withholding judgment.

sorry yall just gettin in here but wanted to say this species has been really fun to take care of and we have been rasing it from when it was about .75". but as ive been doing some research ive found as one of you have said that color is a huge factor in this species but its funny on camera it looks like that blue color u see in the top pics but as i look at it personaly i notice alot of brown hairs....unless its all about lighting i have also heard that the females only show there color at about 3" or bigger so maybe next molt or so before we can tell. I also think this post is great for anyone with this speices to use as a gauge because there is little info or good facts about them. However i went into your arachnogallery and found some mating the males are denfently brown and females are defently blue/or grey.
I also would like to add some of these species seem to have a violet or purple color to them but , and correct me if im wrong , that would be the singapore violet or Malaysian violet if there is such a species. So ruling that out is also an issue how can you be sure which one you have until final color has been reached?:clap:

I keep it simple. 2 circles = female. 4 circles = male. So I say male. That may sound silly but im usually right with that method.
