I stopped in at my new favorite pet store to pick up some crickets today. I check out their spiders and holy crap they have some monsters called Great Earth Spiders. What an absolutely beautiful spider. A bit pricey, but not too bad really. Anybody have any personal experience with these guys? I didn't buy any, but I'm seriously considering it. They have three huge adults. How do you tell male from female in this species. Do they have tibial spurs or no? Any info will be gladly assimilated.

Thanks!

Hi Gilbert,

usually the Species of the Subfamily Ornithoctoninae are denoted as "Earth Tigers"! The males of the most Species of this Subfamily have distinct Tibial spurs. But I can't tell you which exact Species the "great Earth Tiger" could be,because I've never heard this name for an asian tarantula! Can you post a picture of them here in the forum?

Cheers, Volker
