Dude has been hanging out on the side wall all of a sudden and cant seem to find the issue

Picture is not viewable for me. You have not provided details about what you had considered and ruled out.

It could be a few things, such as a problem with the substrate or it may be trying to get closer to a warmer spot. It could be simply exploring.

The picture that was inserted didn't involve a tarantula.

As well there is nothing wrong with a T on the walls. Just make sure the height from substrate isn't more than 1.5x leg span or similar.
