Grammostola actaeon - 1st Successful U.S breeding!!
I'm happy to report my breeding success with Grammostola actaeon!!
Bred in Feb., she produced a sac in June (wow that was fast!).
I pulled the sac after 30 days, to find some of the largest post embryo i've seen since X. immanis, or T. blondi!! Only 31 "budlings" and 11 infertile in the sac, which I was surprized just a little because of the size of the eggsac, although the female was only slightly over 4" in legspan (see photo, the small one is the female!). I almost turned down the male for breeding.
I lost 3 babies going into 1st instar, and no babies going into 2nd instar.
They are devouring 1/2" crickets now!!
Swifty
