Now i want to put a neat pet in there. I own two black emps, now before i go run off and buy stuff i do my reasearch.

Suggest me a cool pet that is pretty easy to maintain. That will live comfortably in the said enclosure, i might even buy two.

Thanks

i would suggest some desert sort of animal since those things dont hold humidity well. Maybe a bearded dragon would like that, they grow to about 24" full grown i believe.

What are you looking for in terms of mainentance? How much do you plan to interact with your pet? How visible do you want it to be?

Leos are great low mainenance lizards. You could house several in a tank that size, but they are going to want to hide during the day. They tolerate handling, but aren't as social/tame as a beareded.

A bearded will be out and about during the day. Some actually seem to enjoy coming out with their keepers. They will need a weekly soak, and daily salads in addition to their insects. Since they are diurnal they will also require basking lights for heat and UV rather than a UTH like the leos.

Figure out how much time and $ you want to devote to maintence and how much you want to spend on the set up. This will narrow your choices considerabley. Just about any small to midsize lizard could dwell in that tank if set up properly.

hmmm maybe i'll go with a bearded dragon. I emailed the local petstore and asked them a few questions on the matter of parasites and bearded dragons here's what he had to say:

Thankyou for your concern on this. The substrate plays a vital role in
preventing parasites. If we discover parasites on our animals we would
surely not sell them.
Of course we do guarantee our animals health against any pre-existing health
ailments, if anything was going to turn up it would be within 72hrs. If
there is an apparent heredity related illness we would deal with it
accordingly, probably replacing the animal.
Unfortunately we can not control the environment that the customer is
putting them in, we can only suggest the proper substrate, lighting,
vitamins etc.
If you buy what we recommend we would be able to offer a health guarantee
of 30 days. Otherwise 72hr is standard.

So what is your opinion on this ??
