Got a free scorpion today! :)

So I had this local ad up looking for scorpions, and this fella from near by went to las vegas, and upon coming back and unloading his luggage he found a scorpion. He found my ad online and offered him to me for free. It's a cool scorpion! Not sure what species it is though. I know Vegas has 25 species running around.

Either way, a cool addition to my small scorpion family.

Hey, can anyone tell what the black dot is on his body right before the tail?. He came in a container with a loose rock I feel may have rolled on him during transport.

Centruroides sculpturatus. Appears to be adult male.

Looks like a some sort of centruroides and does look male

Awesome! I have trouble identifying scorpion species sometimes. Was pretty exciting. Cause I never got a picture before he came. Was just a quick " you want it? You can have it right now" moment.

I wonder if that pic is fresh after a molt or if it's really that "lightly" colored

I'm not sure. I didn't receive the scorpion about a full day after the guys arrival back in town. Could be fresh out a molt. My Arabian fat tail molted and was a light squishy grey for about 2.5 days.

It's venom packs a punch but if you already have a Fat Tail then you know the precautions needed.

Centruroides sculpteratus and I believe that species has a pale morph.
