You should make a set up similar to hobo's set up for your chevron tarantula. however, use peat moss. when the peat moss inflate after you put water, put it in the enclosure about 6-7" deep, do not press substrate so it will be easier for you haplo to make tunnels
It is, in fact, peat moss in there. It is moist straight out of the bag, so I never add any water to "inflate" it. That's more of a coco coir thing.
I packed it down as tight as it will go, as I've found that it doesn't collapse as readily, and my haplo has had absolutely no issues with burrowing through it at all (I did make it a starter burrow though).

Also, about feeding... I'm sure you can find some local hobbiests who breed roaches specifically as feeder, and perhaps you can start a colony of your own. Check the for sale section, you can always get 'em shipped to you if you can't find anyone local.
