If you give the latin name, that would help a lot. Common names are way too vague to get an accurate answer.

it was givin to me and all they told me was it was called a golden scorpion. here is a pic to help

Doesn't look like S. maurus to me. M. martensii may be a better bet. M. martensii is a tropical burrower, looks like compressed coconut fiber in the pic; I would mix some peat moss in 50/50 for digging. Anything that holds humidity without promoting molds/etc. should suffice.

Yes it is M.martensii, since it is somewhat of a habitat generalist, the substrate is not that important. They do not make intricate burrows or something, mostly scrapes or shallow pits under logs and stones or under bark of trees.
You can use cocofiber, cocoshumus, mix it with sand if you want etc etc...Keep it medium humid.
