gnats in cricket hotel

I have a cricket container that I built recently, it is about 2 ft sq, and about 2 ft tall. Quite large for crickets. I have recently started getting gnats in this. It does have a lid. What is a way to get rid of the gnats? I know I can't use fly strips. I thought about just using a dewalt 18V shopvac and sucking each one of them up, but that won't do anything to solve the problem, just mask it. Thanks.

i don't breed crix ,but i breed roaches.when i get gnats i remove the colline clean it out and let the cage dry out.maybe you should get roaches?
