It's a bit too dark... A little fiddlin has got this picture though which is alittle easier..

I'd go with female, from what I can make out the raised area above the furrow. Though I'm not good at this...

I think it looks like that individual is way too young to sex reliably by any method.

Sexing by external genitalia characters by the naked eye doesn't really become possible until an individual is at least 2.5 inches for most species.

Assuming that spider is as big as you say, there's just nothing defining there in the genital region, which means one of two things. Either for whatever reason it needs some more size, or it's a male.

I'll have to take your word for that, because based on appearances, I wouldn't think that was more than a 1.5", maybe 2" at the outmost, large sling. What is it so I can file that away for future reference?

Think of the webspace that's been occupied since the realization that tarantulas can be sexed via external features. I've seen enough blurry pics to cover a decent wall. Maybe a sticky that says "male T's are NOT hung like rhinos!" would help.
