diagonally measuring top right leg to bottom left leg probably 5 inches. Found at Kawartha Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Dolomedes sp. I'm not too familiar with the genus, someone else will have to narrow it down further.

Is that an egg sac it has beneath it?
If so I would tend to lean towards Dolomedes spp. myself as Cheshire said. Wolf Spiders carry egg sacs on their abdomen attached to spinnerets, Dolomedes carry them at the front with palps and mouthparts. Also I dont think any Wolf in N. America gets nearly 5 inches.
If it is Dolomedes, there are not too many species possible.
D. tenebrosus usually has 3 distinct dark "V" on abdomen.
D. albineus usually has 5 distinct "V" on abdomen
D. vittatus usually has dark spots right behind the eyes.
Id lean towards D. tenebrosus due to size. I do not think any others (besides okefinokensis which is way out of your range) gets as big is around 5inches.
Much color variation exists in both Dolomedes and Lycosid spiders, so colors alone are near impossible to use a sole source of ID.
