Giant aussie land snails

Got these the other day, not as large as the Giant africans you get but huge for aussie standards.

In the US we have a bunch of species between the size of a ping pong ball and golf ball but most are a plain tan color. In Michigan and Ohio there's a really sharp looking black and white striped species a little bigger than a ping-pong ball that lives close to the Great Lakes.

Sorry, I don't know the scientific name. I have some old 35mm prints of them if I can dig them up.

They are absolutely gorgeous! I tend to avoid slugs and snails because from my experience they eat constantly but I'd certainly make an exception for those!

I haven't found the prints yet but I did run across an old shell. This shell is from a snail that died about 13 years ago. Obviously all the color is gone but you can make out the pattern. The measurement across is 32mm.
