hello

I know that the genus Liphistius contains so called "living fossils", like the giant malasyan trapdoor spider, but does anyone know how long this genus have been around?

I have heard that is is about 200 million years,if true, so is it nothing else then amazing!!!:)

(Sorry about the english)

Cheers

Yes they are interesting spiders, I have a few of them and want more. The way that they send out "trip lines" from their borrows and the speed at which they can get things that go over them is something I will never get tired of watching. I wish there were more of the Liphistius species available on the market, some of the others appear to have a lot of color to them. I am partial to the all black L. malayanus though.
