Rainy morning here on the south side of Kauai, and one of the zillion spiny-backed orb weavers was enjoying the shower.

Very cool! Gasteracantha seem to have dispersed across the Pacific quite well.

No kidding - you literally can't walk 10 steps without running face first into one of their webs! I wish my camera would pick up the webbing better, because there are some angles through the trees that have 40 or 50 of them stacked vertically... Just amazing. The other tourists think I'm a little strange staring at all the spider webs :wacky:.

You sound like my kind of tourist, ha ha! I imagine I likewise look strange on the sides of trails, peering intently at the underside of some log, leaf, or rock...
