Galleria mellonella, commonly called the waxworm, waxmoth. I just bought a culture I want to pupate. Anyone know what I can feed them? I know there has to be honey in their diet but a few sources claim I need to give them baby food. Anyone have tips on keeping these?

They eat what their substrate is. Just mix bran/oatmeal and honey. Then that should be your substrate. Im not sure if they eat anything else besides that:?

Here i found food recipe from this website: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Live Food, Wax Worms.htm

Food Medium 1: Mix bran and honey in a heated sauce pan. Add enough bran to make it stiff. Spread it on a cookie sheet till it cools. Crumble it up and place on the bottom of your container. Freeze any extra for later use.

Food Medium 2: Mix seven parts crumbled dry dog food with one part water and two parts honey. This medium should gut load your wax worms. Spread on cookie sheet to dry until no longer sticky – usually 24 hours. Freeze any extra.

Food Medium 3: Mix any cereal with honey till it’s all gooey.

Wow thanks again. That helped a lot. You don't happen to know if they need to attach their cocoon to something do you? That website showed the cocoons just laying in the substrate.

Yeah im pretty sure they cocoon in the substrate. Just have crumpled wax paper in there so the moths can lay their eggs, and incase they do cocoon in the wax paper. And make sure the food medium dries before adding the wax worms. Then crumble up the food.

they can make their cocoon lying on the sub. occasionally i get moths from tubs of worms if i don't feed them out fast enough (or keep them in a fridge)
