hi everyone,
i have a chilian rose she a female as i recently found out from her mault a couple of weeks ago! it was her 1st mault with me. she has beautiful colouring now and got through the mault ok and very quickly considering. today she started doing something i have never seen her do before i explained it to my boyfriend who has 7 tarantulas and also had no idea so here goes.
she turned round and dropped very quickly to the substrate floor and put four legs streched in front of her carapace and the rest streched to the back of her abdomen. then as she did this a quick as i could blink she got up from this position and then flopped back down again. it was as quick as anything but very startling and i have never seen her do this before. why did she do this i am very puzzled and would like to know for future referance. it wass like her body went into spasm?????? she only did this once she just flopped down got back up extreemly quickly on what i call her tip toes and then flopped back down again. she has hardly moved since her mault she just stays on her mat???

Did you by chance happen to see her lay that webbing down before she plopped on the ground like that? How long has she been doing this, and has she eaten since the molt?

Sorry, since you added more info.. You're saying that was her molting mat, and she's been there for a couple weeks?

Nothing to worry about. I have no logical explanation, but my G. rosea does the same thing after a molt. My opinion is they are "stretching out/breaking in" the new cloths.

No worries.
It's been a year and a half since her molt and my rosea still does this from time to time.

Looks like the typical post-molt "stretching out" position to me.
