Hey this is just a funny story about something happened to me a few months back. I was keeping my mature male G. rosea in a small "critter keeper" box while I cleaned out his normal enclosure. Long story short, my dog knocked it over and he escaped. I woke up the next morning to see him crawling accross my wall. I grabbed him quickly and put him in the critter keeper again, with a dvd case on top of it for a lid. So i go and do my usual morning business and come back and, lo and behold, no spider. Again. I attributed this to the dog. This time I wasn't so lucky. Search hard, I did, for a long, long time. I was understandably not happy about this. Long story short, again, I found him in an empty case of beer a month later. Back into the same critter keeper he went. Now for reasons unknown I didn't learn my lesson the first time. Back on top went a dvd case. I went off to do something, came back 5 minutes later, no spider. Again. Fortunatly he was only a few feet away. I promptly made him up a new home and made sure he was secure.I didn't think he was strong enough to move a dvd case, but I was wrong. Thats the first time Ive had a spider escape on me in 10 years, and Im thankful it was a rose hair that did. He's perfectly okay , came out of it a little dusty but happily no worse for the wear.

Just goes to show that you can't keep someone from their beer if they want it bad enough. :p

Glad you found your T. Really though, a DVD case? Man that is lightweight stuff for a fully grown T. Those suckers are much stronger than people think. I have a P cancerides that managed to break two slats in a KK top with her fangs before I got wise to her antics.

T strength is beyond what ppl expect. I had my MM rufi pry open a crack in the corner of his plexi enclosure to go loose for a few weeks, and my wife saw our escapee stop our bathroom's mural fan to get in and out of it. I mean, actually stopping the rotating propeller dead and hold it (could hear the engine struggling for a few secs) long enough to process its body to the other side. It's a 5" white plastic propeller, can stop it with my fingers but it still takes a bit of strength and I am flabbergasted that a creature that is hardly 1/1000th of my weight could do it!!!

Great story. :D It's a shame you didn't witness the escapes. It is amazing to watch the strength in action. One wouldn't necessarily think they'd have evolved to push so hard...
