I've tried the male that Botar loaned to me twice with my adult female. She's interested, she drums and taps and paces the cage. He, on the other hand, hunkers down and hides in the corner of her cage. I left him in for over an hour the first time and about half an hour tonight, but he doesn't seem interested even though he paces in his own cage all the time.

Am I doing something wrong? I think I'm going to wait a week and try again.

Well, do share your results good or bad. I too would like to attempt breeding them so anything you learn will be well recieved on this end....

Give him a little viagra :D Sorry.

Yesterday I saw a beautiful Red phase rosia male. they wanted 19.00 for him. I offered 10.00, they said no. :(

Galeogirl,
I bred the G rosea I have again last night during the chat (complete with play by play announcements!)
Here is what happened:
They walked near each other, and just sat there, doing absolutely NOTHING that I could see. He had drummed a bit originally, but they were still. He was hunkered up, and she was just standing there, they were about 2" apart.
It must have lasted a good 15 minutes.
All of a sudden, she made a miniscule movement. He literally rushed at her, lifted her up, and inserted both palps a couple of times each. Before he even let go, while he was still stretching, I put a piece of plastic between them, she was trying to bite him.
It was kinda a shock. There was nothing..then BAM.
I've noticed that there is no courtship (at least with my pair)
Maybe put them in a smaller space together. Make sure you can rescue him though!

Galeogirl,

That is the exact opposite of what I experienced with him. In both of my breeding attempts the hook-up was almost immediate. I had the fems in large kritter keepers, which are not very big. So perhaps it has something to do with the size of the enclosure. I have no idea to his age or date of his ultimate molt since I acquired him as an adult male, so perhaps his time is near.

I'm going to give him a few days and try him again. I'm thinking that he may not have created another sperm web since his previous matings.

I've got my female in a mid-sized critter keeper, so the space is fairly small (just enough room to wrangle in if things get ugly). She paces back and forth near him, but he just doesn't seem interested yet.

I'm going to try dimming the lights and see if that helps, maybe I'm just not setting the mood for them. What was it you suggested, Botar? Oh yes, the soothing sounds of Barry White. ;)
